BRIT POP (see what I does there?) (Oh wait I just realised it says that on the cover anyway. Fails).

Yup yup yup, Britney Spears on the cover of the new POP Magazine, out September first (eeee). PERSONALLY I am most excited about the FREE CINDY SHERMAN BOOKZINE.... AHMAGAD.
Anyway this is sort of a non post just to say I cant wait for the new issue and I know it will be (TEAM GIRL SQUAD) so good!

 K, say hai to my magazine collection. Isnt it pretty?
Yup, pretty much my most major obessesion with fashion is the magazines. I think I get about 5 a month at the moment, I keep discovering new ones I just gotta buyyy. Theres still so many more from this season I havent got yet either (Fantastic Man, The Gentlewoman, Lula, Man about town, Arena Homme +...) so it will probably be growing even more in the coming weeks. This lot doesnt include my 2 years worth of subscriptions to Harper's Baazar and the Elles I buy reguarly coz to be honest they go straight onto my cutting pile. I used to cut up all of them (some of my early vogues are in tatters :( im sad to say!) but now I keep them all pristine and have done so for the last 2 and a bit years. But the Elles and Harpers pretty much cure my craving to cut out all the pretty pictures. Well sometimes.

The pile on the left is sort of my mis match pile, with the one off magazines Ive bought etc. Well it started off as my TANK pile but now they have that new ring bound format that doesnt stack so nicely so I keep those on my bookshelf now. From bottom to top: Interview June/July 09, Hercules issue 05 (probs s/s 09 I think), 5 TANKs (Volume 5 I think but i  dunno the numbers and cant be bothered to pull them out to look right now haha), Another magazine issues 17&18, SUPERSUPER # 18, Man About Town =05 A/W09, GQ Style 10, 10 Men (yuck, the worst magazine I ever bought) S/S'10, Fantastic Man Winter 09, Elle Collections s/s'10 (I usually cut these up too, but this seasons was amaazin), WAD #44 (got it in Paris), Flux - The Hysterical Issue, Lula F/W 09, Vogue Hommes International 11, Bon International (one of my favourites of all time) s/s'10, Jalouse Avril 2010...
The pile on the right is a bit more organised! Wonderland magazine May 2008- Feb/March 2010 (I need to get this months - carey Mulligan is on the cover looking sweeet), Love issue 1-3, Arena Homme + S/S 08- A/W 09, Another Man s/s 09-s/s 10, Pop 19-22 (both covers of issue 21).

O HAI. LETS TALK ABOUT POP BABY LETS TALK ABOUT U AND ME LETS TALK ABOUT ALL THE GOOD THINGS AND THE BAD THINGS THAT CAN BE.

I dunno, something like that.

OK so I totally freaked out last week when I bought the new pop. I didnt have a scanner and I was on holiday and all I wanted to do was shout about it. I was totally throwing up about it... to kick myself in the face with my own saying.

Now Ive had time to breathe, lets go over it properly shall we.

OK so I totally bought it twice. I know Im an idiot but A) I wanted both covers B) I wanted to cut one issue up and C) and D). Im glad I did though because now I can scan and talk. I like/love the colour cover best. I think both are awesome though, so exciting to see Tavi make a cover. Have I become one of those people throwing up over her? It doesnt matter, she is AWESOME.

I dont have any of my old issues to compare but Im pretty sure the format of POP has changed a bit. Not only is it laced with these cool like pull outs and 'mini zine' type things, its also more like the September Dazed where the editorials and articles are mixed up together. it starts with this shoot which is OK, but uses that same choppy collagey thing again. I like the eyebrows though, and obviously loving the Comme.

THOSE SHOES!!!!!!! (ok you cant see em very well, but trust me THEYRE THERE.)

Next theres a sweet little interview with Ed Ruscha, which I will admit I have only read half of BECAUSE while I was reading on the train I had this sudden irrational and UNTRUE feeling all of a sudden that the man sitting next to me was in fact Ed Ruscha himself, so I got really self conscious and turned the page. I like this picture.
I dint really like the next set of pictures. I dont know if theyre linked to an article or if theyre just how they are, but either way the model is pulling this same face in every picture and they just seem like bad juergen Teller imitations.

YOU WILL ALL BE AMAZE'D to learn I fully read the next interview with Subodh Gupta. well I call it the NEXT interview, of course there was a bit inbtween that I skipped, and some awful accesory pictures I wont mention but YOU KNOW what I mean. Anyway Subodh is cool, I saw some of his work earlier at the Tate Triennial. I think it was part of Altermodern, although if it wasnt I saw it when I went to Altermodern so there you go. I like this.

OK I really love this shot, and the jewellry is way nice too, but what I dont get is WHY IS SHE SMOKING? or rather why is there a cigarette balancing on her lips? so pointless. Its not like Im some massive anti smoking freak, its just I dont like it when there is POINTLESS smoking in fashion shots.

Although I really like the next little mini mag with the curtain effect thing, the pictures within do nothing for me. I like the chair hats though.


Haven't read the article to accompany this, but I love this.

Next is an article on Brody Dalle who I heart, but theyve done something wierd with her eyes in the pictures which creep me out so I wont scan. then theres some accessory pictures, some topless Irina pictures (yawn) and some bad pictures of a model in a nice woodland setting.

The Damien Hirst interview however is way good. I have always been so undecided about him but this interview made me like him alot. I apreciate his morbid fascinations, and his art collection sounds incredible. Im fully going to his upcoming shows. LOVE LOVE LOVE the George Taylor piece in this picture.
LOVE the Jil Sander peek.
REALLY LOVE the Jessica Stam/ Lily Cole shoot. Yeah even Lily cole doesnt annoy me in this.

The next booklet has a really nice cover.

Really like this feature. love the images and the general atmosphere of it.

I havent read 'A proud history' but I fully intend to. I love the images anyway.

The Nina Ricci shoe pictures sort of creep me out. Theyre just so... yonic.

The Tavi pictures are sooo great I just LOVE the styling. OK So I really loved her self styled pictures in LOVE, but these are just completely different.
This styling is just FLAWLESS.
OK. THIS PICTURE HERE. THIS PICTURE!!!!!!! This is just the best fashion shot I have seen ALL YEAR.

Next theres a cool little pull out zine made by the superstar blogging kids, mainly 'Fake Karl'. I dont really know much about that but I do like the cover.

and then finally an interview with naomi Campbell which is cool and has a few nice images too.

Yeah so you know how I was doing my LOVE review and I mentioned the Tavi mock cover? Well i was GOING to say Im glad they didnt go with that for LOVE because A) It didnt work as a cover so much and B) coz i had seen this new POP cover with her on and it is sooooooooo good.

I got the coloured butterfly cover, just coz yknow. I love how its a double cover issue. well actually theres four covers, one really limited edition hardback cover by ed rusha, and then this fucking ugly cover for the subscribers which I am so glad I aint.

Im gonna buy the other cover as well though because I like to keep my magazines PRISTINE (I will take a picture of them all on my shelf later), but i really really wanna cut this issue up. WOW its good. ok so I havent looked through it completely properly yet but I can just tell.

oh WOW and Tavi's styling is the BEST I HAVE SEEN IN SO LONG.

it really is exciting. Like I said, I wish I had a scanner with me.
