Just stumbled across these amazing images by artist Phillip Toledano, also known as Mr. Toledano (creepy?).
He has loads of other well good works too, but these definately caught my attention the most.

'Hope & Fear is the external manifestation of internal desires and paranoia that are adrift in contemporary American society. What are we afraid of? What do we love? How does our society function, and what does it worship?'

Who knows if these three images convey that totally, all I know is I cant stop looking at them. The artist also likes to confirm 'All costumes are real'. sweeet.

One of my favourite sights from this year's Latitude; about 8 women all dressed as the former Beach-bum himself, mr Lagerfeld. I have no idea why or what they were doing (some of them seemed to have massive amps or speakers on trolleys) but it sure made me giggle.

PS: YIPPEE! Ive got ma internetz back! This means I can upload REAL PICTURES without having to steal them from other peoples websites!!! it also means it doesnt take me five million years to post the smallest thing. Best of all, it means im back to bizzniss baby. more posts more posts more posts.

Funeral

Recently I was involved in a group exhibition, involving a performance as if at a funeral. Although my role in this was teeny tiny, I still got to make and wear a great costume in collaboration with my wonderful friend Char. I'll talk in more detail about the exhibition maybe tomorrow, but for now here are some detail shots from my costume and the performance.

Style Icon #1: Mary Zophres

Hey mofos. Sorry I haven't had much to write about recently.... expect a BARRAGE of posts now. yes, a barrage.

So I was thinking about some of my personal style icons. Basically the one person I have pretty much based my entire life on is Enid from Ghost World. yes yes yes I know this is starting to become a complete geek blogger cliche, but let me assure you kids that I was definately one of the first. It started a long time ago.
Anyways I was thinking, although it is the life and style of enid that I definately am obsessed with, I have to pretty much realise that she is just a character cooked up by Dan Clowes, and styled for film by another person. Therefore I thought Id do a bit of research to find out who this mystery wonderstylist is, and found that the film was styled by Mary Zophres... further research found that she has basically styled like every one of my favourite films, pretty much. By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing.

But I aint God (I don't think) so I aint finished. yes, still doing this bastard essay. only like 600 words to go though so the slog is almost over and YES IT WILL BE OVER by tonight. PROMISE. in fact i definately wont post another blog untill it is done. so the next post will totally be a CELEBRATION! The theme of the party is fancy dress so get your costumes ready. I am wearing the costume above. sorry! its shotgun'D! there will also be cakes and sushi and some loverly party songs so why not pop back later and join in the fun. We can all give me a pat on the back and say wow Toby(/God?) you are really so great I am so glad you have finally finished that bastard essay and actually yeah it was amazing in the end.
