Cat party?

I was kinda scared to post today, being April fools day and all that, I didnt know how seriously I would be taken... Anyway I couldn't really think of any jokes and no one cares anyway. I tried to set Kieran's homepage to lady gaga's website, but I even failed at that since I couldn't remember how to do it. Anyway this is boring.

I found this party invitation in the path near my house, so nice! Definately the sort of party I would like to be invited to. I feel sort of bad that Maria lost her invite. I also have a suspision that its the little girl who lives next door? If I was a better person I would put it through her letter box. Instead I've put it in my scrapbook. Oops.

Vegan for Lent: Day 1

Guess what! I've decided to become Vegan for Lent!!
OK, I will try and make this not-boring, but I thought it might be nice to document this a bit.
There a few reasons why I've decided to do this, and I would firstly like to point out its not for any religious reasons. While I obviously realise that Lent is a Christian tradition, Im pretty sure that (in Britain at least) its not really about that anymore for alot of people, and instead its just a chance to give up something we find 'bad' in the hope of making us better people, at least for the 40 days. And this is what its about for me really; I've been thinking about trying veganism for a little while now, and I think that these next 40 days will be the perfect time to test the water a bit.
My decision was spurred by my university's Vegan/Vegeterian Society - which I actually didn't know we had. Aparently its not a very active society, however I did happen upon one of their posters in the art department advertising VEGAN FOR LENT. After speaking to one of the members of the society, who also happens to be a fellow finalist in the art department, I was pretty convinced, and she even sent me a great pdf (compiled by the society) with loads of vegan recipes in, some of which I was really suprised about!
And so for the last few weeks Ive been preparing myself for the change. This involved  telling lots of people about my plans - this was quite important for me because often I plan to do something and then at the last minute I think, well, maybe I wont. However with the expectations of alot of people on my shoulders I can't really back out of this one! And I don't want to!!
Next I began a process of weaning myself off cheese and chocolate - my two biggest vices in life. This weaning was not so successful and I probably ended up eating more of it, in a bid to savour the experience. In fact I ended up eating a ball and a half of mozarella, only yesterday - oops! Also I have 3 ferrero rochers that I didnt get to eat before today, which are going to fucking TAUNT ME!!!
On monday I took a trip to Holland & Barret (I am lucky coz there are two large stores right in town), as I know thanks to my BFF that theyre great for the vegan/vegeterian substitutes. I bought fake cheese, fake ham and fake mayonaise, as well as a pasta sauce to get me started - I plan to start making better meals throughout though, once I get more confidant with the ingredients available to me. I know it seems strange becoming a vegan and then just loading my fridge with substitutes of the real thing, but this is something I think I will discuss another time. Maybe tomorrow?

And so here I am on day one, googling all the ingredients of Tesco Frosted Flakes to see if I can eat them with my soy milk (I can), and this is how it starts! Wish me luck!!!

Im gonna sick you out.

This is pretty much what I wore for New Years Eve, but yaknow a bit more embellished for Jesus. Ive had this cardigan forever, I think I got it from like a jumble sale or something. And the black shaggy waistcoat Im wearing underneath has pretty much been my favourite item of clothing this winter. I usually wear it on the outside but sometimes just so it peeps through, even though it makes me look pretty fat that way. Ive shown this shirt before, I got it for free from a big pile of weird clothes and costumes that for some reason got donated to my art department a few years ago. I painted the black on it though. Im holding a skull because thats always nice and the red tie is because the chain isnt joined so I joined it together with a ribbon. fucking FASCINATING isnt it. Well not really but people like to know this shit and also Im annoyed because I spent ages editing this shit for my first lookbook picture but then when I went to post it I realise it went against pretty much every one of their rules. motherfuck!!!!!! Anyway so it ended up here which is probably better because you know how neglectful I have been. Thanks for your time, hi I love you. I was going to call this post O holy night but then I remembered Christmas is over.

or, yknow, dont.

Lanvin, H&M and Me.

Hi babies how have you all been? I feel like I havent posted on here properly in ages, and this is actually the truth. I have been hella busy with art shows and visiting friends and getting into the festive spirit and generally living, time has slipped by. Well hello here I am, and I expect soon I shall have more time to have fun here.
So yeah this week I was in Birmingham visiting my BFF. Well can you imagine my surprise when I went into H&M into the bullring and saw a pair of the much desired (on my account) Blue shiney Lanvin X H&M Oxfords??? Oh man, I died. I really thought they had all sold out, and oh what better luck when the very pair was my very size. Well of course, me being an impulse buyer I grabbed the (slightly beaten) box and skipped my way to the till.
On purchasing the shoes of joy, I felt instant guilt. And not good guilt. I suddenly realised I'd spent a hard earnt (Yes, Im a student with a student loan but I also have a job thank you very much) £60 on disco shoes I would probably only wear once or twice with caution, which would probably give me blisters and also at the end of the day are from H&M, not exactly renowned for their quality.
Still, I skipped on. I popped into Pop Store which is just opposite, where they have loads of nice jewellry and and actually some decent menswear too. While here I got chatting to the sales girl and ended up showing her the shoes, which she seemed to enjoy. Even the sales boy came over and seemed impressed... However neither of them enjoyed the shoes in the way that I was, that they were blue and ineteresting but also, importantly, they were from the LANVIN collection!! They seemed oblivious in fact, that such a thing has ever existed. Somehow I didnt get the usual sense of satisfaction at having bought something really nice. This is hard to explain.
Still I skipped on, next thing I knew I was in another shoe shop gazing adoringly at some amazing purple canvas dr Martens with a thick white sole. Although I do have a few pairs of boots I have actually never owned any DMs (well, I have some cherry red shoes with a reallllllly thick bouncy sole which are pretty heavenly, but not boots) although I have actually wanted some for a million years. It was while looking at the dr martens, which were actually all the same price as the shoes Id just bought, that I knew I had definately made a mistake. I looked into the lanvin box, inspecting the shoes further. There were loose threads, and you could see some of the glue on the soles. Compared to the lifetime quality of the DMs they looked flimsy, and well, pretty shit. It was then I knew I would have to make the painful sacrifice of taking the shoes back for a refund. Although I had all these reasons in my head for why I shouldnt keep them, it was still difficult. You know sometimes you just need NICE LOOKING THINGS, you know what I mean? Well my friends, it just wasnt to be. A mere hour after purchasing the prized L4H&M shoes, I was back in the queue to return them. And thats just what I did. And now all that remains is this nifty little dust bag which I guess I sort of stole from the box....
Well the next day I went back and bought some amazing green docs, which actually with my student discount were only £53.99, almost £10 cheaper than the oxfords. And you know what I think I sort of love them.
Moral of the story, I think about shoes too much.

Rude Snood 'tude.

I don't exactly know what kind of animal the ears on my new snood are supposed to represent, however I do know that I feel like a less huggable Carol from Where the Wild Things Are when I wear it, and this makes me happy happy happy. I got it from work (Its from the childrens collection, of course) and so far I havent been brave enough to wear it on the streets of Reading. Probably when it gets colder and everyone is in stupid hats anyway. Yay!

Bat shit crazy.

WELL. I'M BACK.
Just been in Brighton for the week for a bit of  a holiday, catching the last dreggs of summer. I love Brighton for many reasons, one of the main reasons being I seem to find something new each time I'm there. This time I really hit the jackpot as I had a friend who lives there that could show me around a bit more than Ive ventured to before.
The main thing I learnt is that the vintage shops there are MORE AMAZING THAN I CAN ACTUALLY BELIEVE. Like totally blow my brains Im dead kinda thing? You know what I mean. It really was so exciting but also painful since Im broke as a joke and didnt actually buy ANYTHING!!! FML!!
To be honest the only thing I actually bought all week (literally!) was this amazing joke halloween polkadot bow tie shaped like a bat!!! I actually love it. And for £1.50 I have no complaintz. Anyways, its nice to be back. Have you seen the new issue of the Gentlewoman? it is perfection xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

mutha fuckaz.

When I said Id be busy moving house I didnt really expect that it would be nearly a week til my next post. Having no internets suxx!!! Its so annoying when all you wanna do is blog but you c'aint!
Anyways, as I said before lots of nice arty posts will be thrown your way full force like BLUEGH.
First of all I feel like moaning about all the obnoxious horrible bastard shop assistants I have had to deal with in the last few days. SRSLY. As a shop bitch myself I think I have V good customer service, and I now see why this is so important. This will probable be boring so dont bother reading. I just have some irritatings I need to let out.
First of all if you ever find yourselves in the unfortunate position of having to go to Fabric Warehouse in Woodley (Reading), pretty much just dont bother. Everyone there is so fucking rude and WEIRD like some texas horror film where you just know something in the milk aint clean. There is one particular woman in there who acted as if she had been asked to eat a plate of my poo or something when we asked her if we could please buy some nets... surely the point of working in a shop is that you want to sell shit? you would think? She maintained a bitter face the whole time she was cutting, not even attempting any comunication or anything. And she did a shit job and was so rude when we complained about her service. Honestly what a horrible grubby gross shop of DOOM.
OK thats all. This was way boring right? shall I get on with the good shit now? noted. Lets never fight again xxxxxxxxxxxx

Delicious Mr Dean

Guess what! Yesterday I found a new house! Well, actually it's a maisonette, but whatevs its amazing. And it means BASICALLY I am finally able to let my KITCHEN DREAMS run WILD.
I don't know if Ive ever mentioned it, but basically I am obsessed with kitchen utensils. Maybe this is actually a serious problem, I don't know. All I know is I cant wait to make my new kitchen into a beautiful work of art.
I sort of remind myself of this kid Sylvie from this really wierd film I saw once called You Me and Everyone We Know by Miranda July. Ive seen it twice now and I still can't decide whether I really liked it or really hated it. Know what I mean? Anyway this little girl in it has collected all these kitchen utensils and house stuff ready for when she gets married. And Im totally like that right now, a big box full of new house stuff.
I think it might now just be because I totally want to be Sophie Dahl in her Delicious Miss Dahl kitchen...
so nice.

They grew down the river, all bloody and wild

Hai. Listen I know I keep saying it but I  really do feel bad about my lack of posting. And the last post totally doesnt even count, yuck just ignore that. Long story. ANYWAY I know not many people read this little bloggy and I know even less follow it (but I love every single one of you!) (PS if you dont follow, please do. just click the little button or follow me on bloglovin'. I think it will make me feel more encouraged to write more) anyway what was I saying? Yeah basically I have been so busy with work and making films and editing and exhibitions etc etc etc. Year assesments are basically in two weeks, arghhh.

Anyway isnt the sun sooo nice right now? Ive had so many BBQs already. Its so funny how obsessed everyone in England is about barbeques, but seriously WHAT IS BETTER? I think its the only thing that is stereotypically British about me...

OK just so this post isnt boring and just full of ramblings....

Latest exhibition in collaboration with my studio group. I think it looks so awesome! My work is the skull/books/skull on the plinth. Right in fthe front, naturally.
The books were based on a classmates work on dreams and stuff. Ill get pictures up of the insides soon. The front cover has a quote from The Cat with Hands on the front!
|Still from my latest film, sort of Ophelia/ Where theWild Roses Grow based motif. Instead of playing a dead girl with bugs and animals crawling all over her, the idea was she was the last living thing on earth - all the animals and bugs are dead on her, while she lives on...
Who knew UoR could be so pretty. There was this really creepy heron watching us all the time we were filming...

Hail Mary, whats up?

Hello Hello Hello, how are ya motherfuckers?
I am a busy busy bee. Ive been working lots, while trying to write a report on Mike Kelley's Day is Done after doing a presentation on it a few weeks ago. INTENSE. INbetween this Ive been going to rehearsal studios, I want to make some songs for some upcoming videos Ive got planned.
Theres loads of things I forgot/Didnt have time to write about... the Black Angels gig a few weeks ago, and an upcoming exhibition some of my work got selected for.
Mostly Ive just been getting excited about upcoming fashion weeks, and most of all the Angels retro sale this saturday which I am literally dying about. I will deffo write a whole bunch about that this weekend, eeeee.

^^ Pretty much have to thank Siobhan for that. I don't know why I ignored her for so long about them.

Also Ive been having fun with this huuuuuge mass of jersey tube (?I have no idea what you would actually call it? but it is massive, and jersey, and tube like, and both perfect and rediculous for wearing as a snood type affair. oh woops I forgot I was typing in a bracket).
